If there were a million buddhas alive today.
We wouldn’t be all locked and slaved away. A billion Confuciuses. A trillion Mother Teresas . . . Oh what the world would look like today. Jesus & Gandhi & Brother Ali, All of these, People we praise and look up to. The people who bring love & positive attitude. Floating at a higher altitude. That’s how we’d all be if we mold ourselves into. Role models who don’t tell us what to do. But show us how to be. Like Bob Marley & Haile Selassie. Oh, but they have their faults. All of them are reptilian or jerks of some sort. But that’s not what I’m getting at. There’s more to it. Much more worth. To act in good conduct. To be more than a consumerist product. Of their capitalist rage. Their nuclear waste. Their bitter metallic cancerist taste. No, a million Buddhas would not let that be. A billion Martin Luther Kings. A trillion choir members sing. It can be angelic. It can be utopian. It can be perfection. If you let it. If you become it. A million Buddhas live in us today. A billion Mother Teresas. We’ll change the world someday. We’ll outnumber the madmen, The sick men, The people in power today. We’ll win in the end if we want it enough. We’re human, together we’re not handcuffed. We’re free and we’re powerful and we soar in collective bliss. A million Buddhas, I think, would love to hear all of this. |
